Investment Day 2026: exploring the future of investment certificates and digital assets

28 October 2026

On 25 November 2026, ACEPI will host Investment Day 2026, an event dedicated to the evolving investment landscape, with a particular focus on investment certificates, digital assets and portfolio management strategies.

Organised in collaboration with Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor and Borsa Italiana, the event will feature a morning conference at Palazzo Mezzanotte in Milan, followed by a free afternoon webinar for financial advisers.

Under the theme “Evolving Markets: The Success of Investment Certificates and the Frontier of Digital Assets”, the morning programme will bring together representatives of leading financial institutions, industry experts and researchers to examine how changing investor needs, new asset classes and regulatory developments are reshaping investment products and distribution.

Digital assets, market trends and investment strategies

The morning conference, scheduled from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, will open with remarks by Nicola Francia, President of ACEPI, and will be moderated by financial journalist Vito Lops.

One of the central sessions will present new research conducted by ACEPI in collaboration with Ashurst on digital assets and the regulatory framework governing crypto-asset investments. Presented by Luca Lo Pò, Partner and Head of Financial Regulation (Italy) at Ashurst Perkins Coie, the study will examine the characteristics of the Italian market in comparison with other European countries. Particular attention will be paid to whether restrictions on the availability of regulated investment instruments could encourage retail investors to turn towards less supervised products and distribution channels, including those operating abroad.

The discussion will then turn to the growing role of investment certificates in portfolio construction.

A panel featuring representatives from Banca Generali, BPER Group, Mediobanca Premier and UniCredit will explore how certificates are being incorporated into investment strategies, their potential contribution to diversification and their ability to respond to changing client expectations, particularly during periods of market volatility.

The programme will also feature the presentation of the third edition of ACEPI’s market research conducted by Prometeia, examining the distribution of investment certificates to retail investors in Italy. The study will focus on product classification, complexity assessment and the evolving approaches used to represent and distribute these instruments. Additional ACEPI research will provide an updated overview of the domestic investment certificate market, highlighting key developments and future prospects.

The morning session will conclude with the presentation of the fourth ACEPI Journalism Awards, with Walter Galbiati, Deputy Editor of La Repubblica, presenting the awards to the winning journalists.

A dedicated training session for financial advisers

In the afternoon, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Investment Day 2026 will continue with a free online webinar entitled “Investment Certificates and Dynamic Portfolio Management: Strategies for Navigating Financial Markets”.

Designed specifically for financial advisers, the session will take a practical approach, drawing on the experience of professionals with extensive expertise in investment certificates. Against a backdrop of inflation, changing interest rates and geopolitical uncertainty, the webinar will examine how certificates can support portfolio management and help advisers address different client needs. Moderated by Pierpaolo Scandurra, CEO of Certificati e Derivati, the programme will open with an overview of the Italian investment certificate market in 2026, presented by Giovanna Zanotti, Scientific Director of ACEPI and Full Professor at the University of Bergamo. The training will then explore three areas of particular relevance to financial advisers.

The first will focus on managing investments that have experienced losses, examining Switch to Recovery strategies and the potential use of certificates to support the partial recovery of accumulated losses.

The second will address portfolio protection against market downturns, including the use of short and reverse certificates and capital-protected products to manage downside risk while balancing protection costs and potential returns.

The final session will consider the impact of changing interest rates on investment certificates, exploring how different monetary policy scenarios can influence product pricing, returns and investment strategies.

Throughout the afternoon, experienced financial advisers will share practical examples of how these instruments can be incorporated into client portfolios.
